Leoni, a second-year Fine Arts student at the Northern School of Art, has recently completed a striking mural within the Princess Helena Arts Centre/Vixen Bar. This bold and dynamic piece adds to the venues creative atmosphere and showcases Leoni’s distinctive artistic style.

The Inspiration Behind the Mural

Discussing the concept, Leoni shared, “For my mural, Sophie had seen a recent work piece of mine that she was particularly drawn to and asked me to somewhat replicate it on the selected wall.”

Following a blue, white, and grey colour scheme, the mural features an 8ft skeleton dramatically jumping through the wall, clutching a bottle of the classic Newcastle Brown Ale. However, the most significant detail is the Vixen heart, visible through the skeleton’s broken ribs - a subtle yet powerful nod to the bars name and identity.

This piece reflects Leoni’s ability to merge storytelling with striking visuals, creating an artwork that feels both raw and full of movement.

Incredible Artwork for Sale

In addition to the mural, Leoni has two stunning pieces available for purchase - “Killer Tits” and “On the Bones of Your Arse.” Both are currently on display within the venue, offering visitors the chance to own a piece of her thought-provoking work.

“I’ve always been infatuated with art and creativity-as many can relate to, it’s an escape from a world that’s a bit shit sometimes (pardon my French),” Leoni explains. “I studied art alongside politics and English language before fully dedicating to fine arts, and I’ve never been happier.”

These works reflect Leoni’s unique perspective, blending bold imagery with deeply personal and societal themes. If you’re interested in supporting her journey, stop by the venue and view or purchase her work.

Beyond the mural and her exhibited pieces, Leoni’s broader body of work reflects her diverse artistic influences. “Inspo-wise, I’ve always loved Keith Haring, Basquiat, Terry Urban, and Tish Martha,” she shares. Their bold, expressive styles and rebellious spirit clearly resonate in Leoni’s own approach in fine art.
