Emerging artist Lu, currently pursuing a degree in Illustration at the Northern School of Art, has recently unveiled a striking mural at the Princess Helena Arts Centre/Vixen Bar. This project showcases Lu’s growing talent and imaginative storytelling through visuals.
The Concept Behind the Mural
When asked about the inspiration for the piece, Lu explained, “The idea for my mural started with a concept of incorporating a female fox, or a vixen, into the piece. The tiger came as a contrast since the vixens are usually smaller,
and I thought that dynamic would be interesting.”
The interplay between the fox and tiger became a central theme of the mural, symbolizing contrasts and duality. Lu deepened this narrative by designing the background to highlight these opposites: big and small, sun and moon. “It was a way to give the mural more depth and symbolism,” Lu shared.
